I often wonder if he ever got stopped after attacks because he had been drinking beer from his victims fridge? He was arrested for a DUI in Orange County and could he have just committed a rape or murder and drank too much of his victims beer?
Just speculation considering he drank beer often particularly in the Sacramento attacks? Could he also have “Badged” his way out of an arrest after an attack? I used to think about this and wonder if the cops considered this back in the day?
Sorry guys! During this pandemic I ponder too much. Right now rioters are smashing windows at the Sacramento County Jail and have just looted Macy’s. Cops have abandoned the streets here in Downtown Sacramento where many elderly people walk their dogs but the CHP is preventing the protesters from walking on I-5 out of fear the protesters would get hurt.
These are horrible times. You wonder why the EAR outsmarted cops then?

Please let me know where you got that info as I would like to obtain copies of the file on that, if possible. Thank you.

I just did a search on that other board and I found this quote from Winters regarding a 2012 DUI - don't know if they're one and the same: "as we've been saying since the arrest, the 2012 DUI is not him!" and someone else wrote: "The DUI in July 2012 is disputed. The birthdate is 1948, and the description and address don't match DeAngelo."

I have a copy of that other guy's file from Sac County Court. The other guy has a SIMILAR name which is James Joseph Deangelo. When I pulled the file and looked at the actual citation written by CHP, you could see the differences. Different name, different DOB, different address, different physical description, different drivers' license number. DIFFERENT PERSON. I checked the Orange County files and there is nothing there on our guy other than the murders that we are all aware of. It was erroneously reported by LA Times that it was our guy but the newspapers make mistakes.

I have always wondered how is it possible for him to never have been stopped by LE while in the area of an attack or even when he was stalking victims. There is always the possibility he was stopped or pulled over and his Auburn PD badge was flashed and he was let go but during the EAR taskforce days, everyone who was stopped was placed on an FI card. The task force and even patrol were told to FI everyone and LE had looked at several LE officers for EAR so I don't think the badge flash would work. How did the lucky bastard not get caught!

I think one reason LE never stopped JJD after an attack is that he moved away from attacks many hours after the attack most likely in the daylight. The sounds of different cars were reported, and I also think he rode a motorcycle for some of the attacks. A motorcycle could be hidden nearly anywhere and even hidden indoors unlike a car. The sounds of a foreign car by witnesses and victims alike could have been confused for a motorcycle engine noise.
