Attack # 19 occurred Thursday, May 5, 1977 Winter brook Way in Orangevale, near Pershing Ave. I have spoke to residents in that area who reported having many incidents of prowlers and or unknown persons in and around homes in 1982-1983. Including one who was a teenage girl home alone and an unknown suspect attempted entry into her bedroom window at 0300hrs (3:00 AM), it was a dark backyard but the girl claims the shadowy figure was wearing dark clothing and a ski mask or some type of face covering. Yes I know it does not prove anything at this point I have loads more research to complete before I can make any claims. This is during the time frame when it's believed EAR/ONS was dormant and in a cooling off period, but what if he was not. What if he was prowling again in Sacramento or Orangvale, after all this is an area he had attacked twice. The neighborhood is positioned between the #19 Attack and the #16 Attack that occurred Saturday, April 2, 1977 in Orangevale. I will begin looking for more stories and ties and see if the prowling has any of EAR's traits or business cards. I am of course aware this could a copy cat or just another home invader but I believe with the teenage girl's, now a grown woman, account it bears looking into.
I side note, to anyone who reads my posts. The teenager in the above post did not report this to the Sheriff at the time of the incident instead she called her boyfriend to come over and he checked the yard with a shotgun but failed to locate anyone. This pattern of not reporting prowlers had continued into the 1980's even though the girl admitted she was fully aware of the East Area Rapist and believed it may have been him but fear kept her from calling and reporting the incident to the Sheriff.
I am on this now and see what I can dig up. It would explain where EAR was between his murders. I have interviewed 8 people who lived and or still live in the area that stated a prowler had been heard and seen in the time period of 1982-1983, so it's a start and I am looking at facts objectively and will post if and when I have investigated this series.
