There were things reported in the end of Shelby's book before JJD was caught that should be examined. There is the cigarette field striping incident on page 439 of "hunting a psychopath" where Det. Russ found on his property and a person was seen in the backyard watching the house. We know now that JJD was in the military and we know he would strip the burned cigarette by habit or compulsion from his days in the Navy. This is something those who smoke and in the military do to reduce the chance of starting a fire. There were many times field striped cigarettes were located in and around victim's homes and in neighbors yards where it was believed EAR was thought to have stalked victims. I also believe JJD was responsible for stalking of these two former Investigators and I am convinced he had been inside of Russ's home.
On page 441 Shelby tells of discovering a field striped cigarette inside of his vehicle this also leads me to believe it was also JJD. We know how much JJD loved the hunt and thrill of stalking his victims and this would be right inline with his past behaviors. The fact the DNA on it was not EAR is also something JJD would attempt to plan evidence leasing the case away from himself. Yes, He is that smart and he attempted to lead the cops to other suspects the entire time he was active so why not after. The lightbulb loosing is also an EAR trick that JJD used very frequently. Then we come to the motorcycle incident on page 442 and 443 we now know JJD rode motorcycles all of his life and I truly believe this was also JJD. JJD would have regained that high feeling of stalking the very Detectives who were hunting him.
It was JJD in those incidents and now that we know who he is it becomes even clearer.
