In addition, JJD's step brother died of a drug overdose...
So we have:
Brother - burglary conviction.
Father in law - peeping tom conviction.
Sister in law - drug arrest for selling marijuana.
Step brother - died of drug overdose.
Niece - vehicle burglary arrest.

Didn't his oldest daughter get some kind of misdemeanor drug conviction (or maybe just arrest) in the 2000's? And beyond that, there was a drug dealer in Citrus Heights that was shot in the back of the head in his house around that time - still unsolved. The discussion board speculation was that it could have been JJD who pulled the trigger, if his daughter was indeed mixed up with the guy - with JJD worried about her eventually getting in to felony trouble that would create a familial DNA record. Can't remember how much of that speculation was based on further facts - beyond what I've explained here. EDIT: here's the aforementioned discussion board thread: earonsgsk.proboards.com/thread/8141/serial-killerAfter reading the thread, someone gave a specific date for the daughter's arrest, 2/2/2005, and the Citrus Heights drug dealer, "Corvette Bob", was murdered a few months later, in July 2005. I don't think anyone knew for sure that his daughter knew this victim (but all of it being so relatively recent, there are surely people from Citrus Heights at that time who DO know if the daughter was involved with this victim - so this question seems knowable/investigatible.)

I love the story. I love the idea of 60ish year old JJD breaking into a home and killing a drug dealer. It's sort of easy to see an older JJD breaking into a home. I mean, he knew how to break into a home. But would he shot someone, causing a huge loud noise? But also, would a man in his 60's take his chances with a drug dealer? Probably not. He had so many firearms, he surely would've had a silencer? I like it.

He seemed like he was a handy/fix-it kind of guy - and he was into guns (Paul Holes, or somebody, said investigators said JJD had an arsenal in his house.)
