The interesting part of the EBR attacks is the hatred of LE and Sac Sheriff in particular by the suspect. This of course leads us to a person who has been arrested at least once maybe several times. I have narrowed my possible suspects to a couple of handfuls of names using the known information on EBR series.

Interestingly the suspect lived in a nearby mountain community just prior to being identified. JJD was living in a nearby Mountain community. I do not believe they are the same person.

The chance EBR stopped his activities completely seems far fetched even JJD did not stop completely. I think there is compelling evidence JJD continued on prowling and stalking after 1986 when it is believed by LE he stopped. It does not mean he was attacking in the same manner but I believe he went back to his roots.

here's the other thing, I don't thing there ever was an Early Bird Rapist. I believe Shelby is referring to the Early Morning Rapist when he uses this moniker. Jerry Saulter described the EMR as having committed 40 burglaries here:  this would align with Shelby claiming the EBR committed 40+ attacks. The idea that the press wouldn't cover EBR crimes sounds like bullshit to me as I've scoured the Sac Bee for rape reports from the early 70s. I believe when Shelby refers to the EBR, he is referring to the rapist called the EMR in the Sacramento Bee. Shelby calls his copycat reserve officer serial rapist the EMR but in reality there was no copycat and no distinction between the two serial offenders known as the EMR and the EBR in the 1970s. EBR + EMR = EAR |

Any phone calls to LE as in the EAR series? |
