On 9/27/1978 near 521 Russel Blvd US Davis student was raped while walking home from a party around 1:00 AM. The suspect jumped out at the victim with a knife and threating her. The offender was described as white 25 to 30 years old with receding dark brown hair parted on the right standing 5'7 and a slim build. Davis PD at the time cleared this case of an EAR connection based on MO alone.
So the question is was this JJD? Or one of the other offenders both known and unknown in the area?

We can look at it quickly and say well it seems to be an opportunity type of rape since the victim was not at home and appeared to have been grabbed without pre-attack activities but I don't know if she was asked any of those questions that should have been asked. JJD could act impulsively at times when his primary target is missed.

The Davis attacks #33, #35, and #36 happened in Davis in June and July just before this attack. #36 happened on 7/6/78 before #37 happened in Concord (Contra Costa County) on 10/7/78. So he could have been still interested in Davis as a hunting ground in early September, and after that, he would have had a whole month to scout out Concord before the first attack there.
I also think EAR had victims of opportunity at least sometimes. I also think he took advantage of MO-blindness by cops, which he knew well from his own professional experience. Some people have a problem with this idea - they prefer the clean, MO-orderly escalation story for JJD. I tend to prefer a thrill-addicted, diabolically evil, Criminal Justice graduate right-under-their-noses, I'm-smarter-than-you-dumb-cops gloating criminal JJD story. The latter explains a lot more unknown crimes.

I think JJD would also like the idea of keeping undiscovered attacks from being credited to him so he could hold it back as part of his sick controlling portion of his MO. If LE doesn't connect them I think he still thinks he is in control that way just my thoughts.

It appears to me JJD was way more active in Davis then credited by LE. Attacks going back to 1972 in the same area of EAR attacks, Mary Wolf's murder, the Blanket Rapist of 1979, etc

The evidence proves Davis was a fertile hunting ground even years later after EAR the Norcal Rapist struck.

It's just EAR with a new name Once we get the dates/times of the JJD Auburn police reports and the incidents that are being reported, I'm wondering if any crimes JDD is loosely suspected of between 1976-79 will be ruled out. (I'm also thinking he could have fudged report times a bit if he was involved in an EAR crime that day, but let's cross that bridge when we come to it, if ever.)

There is some suspected JJD activity in Rocklin California that board member Jen brought to my attention. I actually went to a location with Jen awhile back that was an unsolved sexual assault and Jen had been trying to get Rocklin PD to investigate to see if there was an actual JJD connection. The attack sure does fit with the time frame and MO and added bonus of being very close to Auburn.
