Here is JJD niece Angela-Kay's recent reddit EARONS post, copied and pasted (below). She got some more information from her brother Wes regarding his segment in HBO's "I'll Be Gone In The Dark" program, episode 6, where he talks about JJD unexpectedly at their house in the middle of the night.
She says, among other things, that Wes remembers *two* unexpected middle-of-the-night visits from JJD to their family - the interview on IBGITD make is sound like only one. Also, she says her dad was a building contractor and JJD did some part time work for him, while working full-time for Auburn PD.
So the reason I'm posting this here, on the EAR-origins, website is this: if JJD used her family home as a 'safe haven' in the EAR phase, could he have also used their home similarly during the Cordova Cat phase? Angela-Kay has said they lived in that Winchester Way, Rancho Cordova house from 1973 to 1982, but she didn't say what month in 1973 they moved in. Or could he have used their previous house, but still in the Cordova Cat timeframe? Or even some other JJD crime spree before that?
The 12-26-75 map has house icons in Rancho Cordova for that particular (younger) sister from the years 1968(only) and 1971 (only), but not 1972, nor 1969-1970.
It appears Wes was mistaken about the "1975" quoted on episode 6, because everything she's posts makes it seem like 1977. Still not clear on that, though I asked her about it in a different Reddit thread but never got clarity as to why he said "1975" (JJD lived in Exeter in 1975, so I'm thinking it was just an innocent mis-recollection on Wes' part, but...)

Title: You are all in for a BIG SURPRISE.....
My brother has given me permission to share the "masked man in his window" story he told on the HBO documentary, series 6, and preferably the part that was cut out and MORE! I will not delete this post, so enjoy! (mods said I cannot link the documentary because of copyright reasons)
...thanks JohnnyHands for the verbiage: In the interview of Wes Ryland, JJD nephew: “In 1975, we lived off Winchester Way in Rancho Cordova. One night I was sleeping, and I had to turn over, and I remember I opened my eyes and I saw some, a man, or some man in a ski mask, and he was staring at me.” “I always wondered all these years, who was that talking to me, through his teeth, who said don’t turn around, go back to sleep."
Per WES today, March 14th, 2021......In addition to this story, Wes says it was two separate occasions that the documentary is referring to regarding his quotes. On one occasion, Wes rolled over from sleeping in his bedroom upstairs and sitting outside on the windowsill was a man in a ski mask staring at him. (the windowsill is not pictured at 31:30 in the series, yet, it is here in 1976: imgur.com/gallery/thvbdfT
It was a couple days later around eleven am that uncle Joe came over and Wes heard him ask our mom if he would be interested in operating remote controlled boats. Thus, Joe took Wes to a pond at a park, (it was a drive to get there), and Joe had hand made wooden small gas engine boats and he put them in the water and Wes operated the remote, and he says they were really beautiful. Then Joe took him to Straw Hat Pizza, which all of this Joe had never done before. Then on another occasion, a few months to a year later, he heard a man in his room through clinched teeth say not to turn around and go back to sleep. Wes did not see this person. This happened near the beginning of winter, near the end of the year, maybe October, or at the end of winter around March, and he is unclear the exact year, he suspects 1977. He reminded me of an incident where someone was on the roof walking around one night when we were being babysat while my parents were out. It was terrifying, we three kids huddled by the fireplace, you could hear the foot steps on the roof, (it was not an animal, it was heavy and very distinct). I was maybe not even 10yrs. The babysitter creeped up the staircase slowly, but it shortly stopped. (late spring/mid 1976)
What ties this story into a jaw dropper for me, if it doesn't already... Wes says he saw a beam of light upstairs shining from a flashlight as it moved around the living room, imgur.com/gallery/qsggup4 and on many occasions heard creaks on the staircase as if someone was standing there for a while. I personally recall our staircase creaked on the 2nd and 3rd step before you make the turn to the long stairs upward. He asked me when our dad made the room addition, you may all recall this comment I made and was reuploaded by FHS229020 days ago Yes, according to his niece:
"This photo of uncle Joe on our sofa on Winchester Way was not taken in 1979. With some research after it emerged on the HBO series episode, 6, I learned from looking at old photos that this sofa was replaced after a room addition my father constructed of our living room in October 1977. This photo was taken in the spring of 1977 up to September 1977. "
****It was JANUARY 1977 confirmed, from the back of the original photo.
Here is the photo of Joe before the room addition that Wes shared on series 6 of the HBO special: www.reddit.com/r/EARONS/comments/lpcnp5/is_this_deangelo_in_1977/
I told Wes the construction was in Oct 1977, and he said this was all coming together...he believes after the ski mask incident on the outside bedroom windowsill, that Joe may have entered our house through the framework from an addition that our father had been constructing on our living room, imgur.com/gallery/xwUk4C4 and that was about the time he saw the flashlight incident and heard the creaks on the staircase. He suspects that Joe used our home as a safe haven and may have looked through our father's blueprints of houses for address, maybe to hide, but, either way that Joe used to work for our father sometimes on construction sites in the Danville area of Contra Costa County as Wes would go with them. (he initially said Contra Costa County and I said oh my, near the ONS murders, and he said that was further south, I said the bay area SF?, and he said it was in Danville). Which reminded me of THIS!!:
"During the investigation in Danville of the 42nd attack, investigators discovered three sheets of notebook paper near where a suspicious vehicle had reportedly been parked." from this link:

"Correct me if i'm wrong, but weren't the Contra Costa and Danville attacks in 1978 and 1979?" The maps and this comment are taken from this link:

Btw, I do vividly recall we had a room off the living room that was a family room which had a door into the garage where my dad built a small office imgur.com/gallery/uk4KFfG where he had construction plans on his desk as I used to play with all his pencils and drafting tools.
Edit: photos, few words, *dates, plus grammar. (there is a small clubhouse my dad built for us kids in the late 70's, I still see it on google maps today. I was asked by the detective if I thought Joe used it to hide, but I now think, wow, maybe ??)
