This is the one I missed the clues to the EAR offend being on the older side. JJD was not in the age group I believed EAR was in. I should have thought it through when he was willing to take on three females in the same house.

Dr. Canter's work on murder mapping tells us that a commuter rapist is usually older than a marauding rapist.
JJD was an older commuter who tried to make it look like he was a young, local marauder... he was only local in that he used to live in the area... Batman Rapist in the UK seems to be the same.
I should have known that EAR wasn't a young, local BMXer, when he was later linked to the car with license plates stolen 100 miles away.

Its crazy after the facts come out what I missed and feel like I blew it. It took a toll on me and really made me re-learn what I thought I knew. I go forward now with a renewed faith in learning the truth without any bias or assumtions on my part as best as I am able. |

I made schoolboy errors in terms of confirmation bias, ignoring obvious leads, and being naive about commuter/marauder offenders. I hope I won't make the same errors with the Batman Rapist. I know what type of person is able to avoid detection for years. Any geographical links will involve family and friends living in the attack zones. IMO like JJD, he grew up in the area, moved far enough away to avoid local heat, and commuted back to offend. Older offender due to his commuting and MO of using a secondary location. Worked nights as these offenders almost always do. Worked a masculine job, 'protecting' people (like JJD, Waller, Delroy Grant, Rader etc). Married, divorced, children...these offenders like to prove their manliness and normality. Their wives usually leave them due to their weird habits and distance. Stayed in the general vicinity...once these offenders feel they have got away with it, they like to claim ownership and stay in the area so they can relive their crimes. |
