There are conflicts without limits between posters, LE and anyone who has ever heard of this case about what his age was when he started his hateful crime spree. One camp thinks there would be no way for a kid to pull off these series of crimes and he had to have been in LE, the Military or been a criminal for quite some time. The other camp says he was 17-19 years of age when he committed his first rape.
I am not so sure he was intending on June 18,1976 to have a 40 year run or kill 12 people along with raping another 44 women. I see things that tell me he may have been a burglar prior to the first attack. I believe he was a peeper somewhere around 13 and then became more brave and started breaking in to satisfy his sexual drive somewhere around 14. He would peep and watch women or men and women together, and I think he needed more and began the breaking in to gain access to the women's underwear and most likely started masturbating inside the homes instead of just outside. The burglaries where nothing was taken should have been red flags for LE even at this time: it was widely known sexual predators start this way and it was not a secret. What may have been different about him is he may have been good at not leaving signs behind he had been inside and he could return whenever he felt like it. It's a big step from peeper to full blown home invading rapist, it's more likely he was entered homes while people were away and looking through their things, including underwear etc and also family pictures. I believe the family pictures were things he would take and use to re-live the adventure of being in the home and masturbating. I think after that he may have wanted to hear the voices of the women he had pictures of and he crank call or just hang up on them, the phone numbers would be easy to get, it's printed on the phone and in those days people rented phones from phone company. I think later on the phone became a two fold device one to hear their voices and the other to discover when people were home or not.

I believe he lived in that area near the victim and saw her while driving by in a car or riding a bicycle. I believe he lived close but not too close to where she would have seen him in the neighborhood: I say this because the victim reported a couple of weeks prior to attack she felt like she was being watched and by a man in particular who drove an American sedan that would look at her and when she went to look at him he made an effort to turn his face so she was not able to see him.
