First thing right off the bat I do not have a way of vetting this guy at all and his story is not that important enough to research his claims. I can say this he is the correct age I saw his name and picture in the yearbook and confirmed his parents lived less than a block from Mills Jr High School. I did not go any further because I don't think it matters and there is not much I can do if its a lie or the truth.
Lets call him Greg, he did tell me it was okay to use his real name but I don't see a purpose with any good outcome to doing that, so lets call him Greg. Greg said he was in school with JJD at Mills Jr High school they had PE and he thinks History but he was not sure if it was history class two classes at the very least. Greg said JJD had like puffy hair on top at that time and he remembered him as a risk taker away from school but while in class he was shy and reserved. Greg descripted himself as not the best student and he did partake in the fractioning of laws but he claims to still be an okay kid with most of his legal activities being hidden from his parents and law Enforcement. Greg stated there would come a day when his parents would be gone out of town and on what he remembered must have been a Wednesday or Thursday (he was not sure) but he remembered he wanted to go watch a basketball game that Mills boy's team would be playing at an away game. Greg said they played the games on Wednesday or Thursday is why he knows the time of week. Greg asked Joe to come with him and of course the question was how would they get to San Juan High School and Greg had the answer his dad's car. They are not old enough to have a Driver's License Greg said he told Joe it would a quick trip and his parents would not be back until Sunday anyway. Greg and Joe got into Greg's dads car and off they went they or Greg decided to cruise over to a park on the other side of Rancho on the way to San Juan High. Greg doesn't remember park name they arrived and parked on the street and walked into the park it was dark and they did not see anyone there they recognized and returned to the car to discover the keys were in the ignition and they had made sure to lock the car locks so nothing would happen to the car. The keys were locked inside of the car and panic started to overcome Greg. Greg said Joe did not panic or seem to be upset in the least Greg thought it was due to it being Greg on the hook for anything bad. Joe asked calmly is there a spare set of keys at home? Greg was relieved and could breathe again they would have to run home because Joe said he can't be out all night his parents would be pissed off so they both started running toward Greg's house. Greg said Joe was a running fool he did not even seem to be out of breathe where as Greg ended up walking when he would get tired. They get to the house and all of the doors were locked ( so much for the media portrayal of doors being unlocked in those days) They walked around the house and pulled on windows and doors unable to enter. Greg said Joe calmly said break the garage window in the side door and you can say a baseball did it while playing catch in fact there's one and Joe picked a baseball off the ground and threw it at the window in the side garage door before Greg could say anything. The ball bounced off not breaking the glass so Joe picked it up again quickly and threw it twice as hard as the first time and again it bounced off picking it up again Joe throws it even harder this time it misses the window and smack's hard on the window frame bending the metal around the window frame. Greg and Joe both start laughing because they can't believe the window won't break then without any warning at all Joe runs at the side garage door and using his shoulder slams into door and the door gives way sending Joe into the dark garage and Greg can hear items falling off the shelf that was inside the garage mounted to the same wall as the door. Joe seemed like he was a good time now and seemed excited Greg was in shock at first then he though I'll worry about that later Joe just saved him. Joe said to tell his parents Greg and Brad (another of their friends) were wrestling around and fell into the door and he also added don't tell them I had anything to do with it. Greg goes into the house and starts searching for the spare keys to his dad's car going into the master bedroom and when he returned Joe was in the kitchen drinking out of a glass milk bottle holding the refrigerator door open. Greg was in a panic again no keys. Joe said okay well we run back and break the window of the car and drive back home simple. Greg said he thought he was more of the trouble maker than Joe but it was clear to him that was not the case. Greg told me he thought he was the tougher of the two and the ring leader in other things he had done in the past but it was clear to him that Joe was accomplished at this type of major trouble and he was in a panic and way over his head and lastly he wanted me to know Joe was having a good time. Joe stopped the two of them in Greg's front yard and pointed down to a rock and told Greg pick that up we are going to use that to break the car window as he started to run down the street. They ran all the way back over to the car which Greg said at this time it was at least 5 miles away and again I was out of breathe and the air was cold and burned his lungs but Joe was just fine. They got back to the car and Joe told Greg go ahead break the window. Greg threw the rock he had brought from home as hard as he could the rock bounced of not even leaving a mark when Joe stepped up and laughing and took his turn again the rock bounced off. It was then a neighbor that had been watching the boys came out and had a wire coat hangar in his hand and helped them open the locked car door. Greg said the guy that helped them never even mentioned them being under age and just went about his night. Greg drove them home and pulled into the garage. Joe then looked over a Greg and said something to the event of what a great time time they had and he seemed very amped up according to Greg. The last thing Joe said to Greg that night as he left was remember I wasn't with you and I had nothing to do with the broken door.
Greg as a couple of other stories that I will share if anyone's interested.
