I'm going to try this again. This is my first thread here, and it looks like we have picked up a lot of the best members from the other board (thanks to Nick being Nick).
I started the "Fake Stache" theory before and got a lot of blowback from trolls.
Let me pose the question again to this group of people who know the crimes:
How could JJD be the Maggorie killer if his Auburn coworkers state that he "always" had a mustache and the witnesses who viewed the perp unmasked clearly did not see a mustache?
1. He is not the Maggorie killer.
Or
2. He wore a fake mustache at work.
What are your thoughts?

I'll go with #2. I think something as simple as wearing a fake mustache would have given JJD some little, sick thrill in his twisted mind.

Cops are generally nothing if not very observant about people and details about their faces and other physical characteristics. A fake moustache would have to be a very, very good one or I would think that he would have been risking being busted at work. I’ve wondered about his hair color. He looks rather blonde in Exeter. The guy who I saw and think was him was not blonde. I would think that whatever color his hair was when he started at Auburn PD would have had to have been the hair color that he had the entire time he worked there. There were temporary hair colors available then (Fanciful brand) but I’m not sure how “temporary” they were. I would think that going from lighter to darker for the weekend and then washing it out might, perhaps, be more possible than going from darker to blonder.

Yes I was serious about the fake stache theory. He was meticulous. He went above and beyond. When I posted the fake beard and wig theory years ago, I was made fun of. Now it's widely accepted that he wore disguises. Cops couldn't typically have collar length hair. We have a picture of him with high and tight hair right close to a victim saying it was collar length. Let me quote another (or possibly same) serial killer: "I only look like that when I do my thing". - Z

I am not against the idea of a fake mustache, but I don't trust Chief Willick's memory, necessarily.
How many of his Auburn co-workers said they don't remember him never having a mustache? Was it just Chief Willick, or were there others (and, in a related question, who were those others?) If it is just Willick, could his memory be mistaken? Is it possible he grew the mustache right after the Maggiore murders, because the composite based on the "revised witness composite" didn't have a mustache?
If he did grow the mustache post-Maggiore, that would have put his mustache phase at around half of his Auburn tenure (and being the last half of his tenure, could recency bias have affected Willick's memory?).
As I've written before, I think that family photos will come into play on this and other questions, if the prosecution has gone after them and his relations have cooperated. [EDIT: I wonder if LE has hit up his surrogate family in Rancho Cordova for photos.]
In another related question, has Chief Willick ever said what hair color he remembers Deangelo having?

I am not against the theory but I think the mustache he had in Auburn was real. I do not believe Deangelo was the shooter of the Maggiores. The shooter was right handed and Deangelo is left handed.
