This string of burglaries occurred around Christmas time in the Sunset Whitney area of Rocklin. Many homes were still being built in the area at that time and it was an unincorporated section located on the outskirts of Rocklin approximately 12 miles from Auburn, California where Joseph Deangelo had just taken up residence after leaving the Visalia/Exeter area. Dense valley fog was present in the area during this time and the now retired Rocklin Police Sergeant who was in charge of this series of burglaries recalls these incidents. He indicated that he and other officers did several stakeouts and were very cold during the long stakeouts. The person responsible for the burglaries was never caught.
